Costa Rica products

I went to a fruit shop called 'Casa Ametller', and I observed these products from Costa Rica, a country from America. When I asked about this product, a worker told me these pineapples came from Costa Rica in less than a day to maintain the food quality. With this, I wonder if it so necessary to create those luxuries to have better quality and let a serious environmental footprint with the distance in which the plane flys?

On one hand, it is so difficult having this variety of exotic food in our country, because of the environment in which it has been cultivated, is a tropical one.  On the other hand, we should think about not consume this type of aliments.
