Reportage about a Sirian Refugee

After having finished the migration project, I comment on a friend of mine what we had done and worked on during the term. He recommended a video from the 324 news program that presents a small part of one report which talks about a Syrian immigrant who fled his country. With my curiosity, I started to watch it and they defined a couple of theoretical concepts that we did in class on the first days of the project. They start talking about the difference between migrants and refugees. Refugees are people fleeing from armed conflict, violence, or persecution and they are forced to cross their country's borders in search of security. Meanwhile, an immigrant has a different reason to go away from their country such as economical, social, or other reasons. This is to say, refugees must flee, it is not an option.

The case of the person dealing with the report is clearly a refugee. This boy was allowed to settle in Greece but was still unable to go to other European countries. He stayed for a period of time on the island of Lesbos, one of the main points where many refugee camps are concentrated. This point also made me think of some discussions or videos we saw in Esteve's class. Also, in the talk provided by the FAS of UAB. Globalization makes all these movements possible, which although this video is from 2013, is still in force today and with many more movements.
